A City That Never Sleeps—Now, It’s Charging While It Moves
If you’ve lived in New York City long enough, you know this place doesn’t slow down for anyone. The taxis, the late-night buses, the 2 a.m. halal carts on the corner—our city moves. But lately, there’s been a quieter kind of movement happening. One you might not hear, but you’ll definitely feel: New York is going electric.
As someone who lives, works, and raises a family in Queens, I’ve seen the growing pains of progress—especially for those who’ve made the switch to electric vehicles. Clean transportation is the future, but up until now, that future has been frustratingly hard to charge.
That’s about to change—and fast.
Powering Up Across the Boroughs
267 fast-charging stations are being installed across the five boroughs—a major leap toward a greener, cleaner NYC.
The plan? Make charging accessible, reliable, and fast for everyone from families to rideshare drivers.
Coming Soon:
- Maspeth, Queens – 60 stalls, the largest fast-charging hub in the Northeast
- LaGuardia Airport – 44 stalls for travelers, taxis, and Ubers
- JFK Airport – 24 stalls, doubling current capacity
- Greenpoint, Brooklyn – 30 stalls in a high-traffic neighborhood
- Port Morris, Bronx – 20 stalls for a growing EV community
Backed by a $60 million loan from the NY Green Bank, it’s a statement that New York is ready to lead the charge. The company Revel—based right in Brooklyn—is behind the installation of the stations.
A Cleaner City Starts With Access
This initiative is about community. It’s about making sure Queens families, local workers, and future generations can breathe easier (literally). Cleaner streets. Less noise. Fewer emissions. As a dad raising two kids here, that matters to me on a personal level.
It also matters professionally. As a real estate broker, I see how infrastructure like this adds real value to neighborhoods. When you invest in sustainability, you invest in livability. That’s good for homeowners, good for buyers, and good for the future of Queens.
The Road Ahead
By 2027, the landscape of New York City will look very different. Charging anxiety will be a thing of the past. Whether you’re commuting from Sunnyside, picking up clients near Astoria Park, or grabbing groceries in Jackson Heights—you’ll be able to plug in, charge up, and get on with your day.
These new stations aren’t just infrastructure—they’re invitations. To rethink how we move. To reimagine what our boroughs can be. And to take part in something bigger than all of us.
Thinking of Going Electric?
If you’ve been on the fence about EVs—or wondering how this shift impacts real estate, daily life, or your next move—I’d be happy to talk it through.
Queens is changing. Let’s make sure you’re ahead of the curve—whether that means a smarter commute, a greener home, or the right neighborhood with tomorrow’s infrastructure already in place.
