The Farewell Announcement: A Bittersweet Goodbye

For a moment, it seemed like the iconic Q.E.D. Astoria would become just a memory. The beloved entertainment venue, a hub for local artists, comedians, and community gatherings, appeared to be facing an untimely end. Kambri Crews, the founder and creative director who had poured her heart and soul into making Q.E.D. a cherished local landmark, announced on Nov. 21 that the doors would close in early 2025. She spoke with sincerity and a touch of sadness, reflecting on the ten years she had dedicated to nurturing creativity and laughter in the heart of Astoria.

Kambri, known not only as a creative director but also as an integral part of Astoria’s entertainment scene, felt it was time to step away. She said, with a mix of pride and weariness, that she had accomplished everything she had set out to do but was now ready to leave Q.E.D. in search of new horizons. Yet, amid the uncertainty, she had an open heart. “Let it live on. Please come and make me an offer,” she urged in a heartfelt video. She wasn’t ready to let Q.E.D.’s story end—not without a fight.

A New Light: Hannah Lieberman Steps In

Hope returned when Kambri Crews shared an unexpected twist of destiny on Dec. 12. She revealed that Q.E.D. would find new life under the ownership of Hannah Lieberman, a talented comedian and passionate supporter of the Astoria community. Hannah, who had long been a part of Q.E.D. ‘s vibrant lineup of shows, was not just a regular comedian but someone who felt deeply connected to the space, the mission, and the community.

Kambri chose Hannah not only because of her comedic talent but because of the trust and loyalty she had seen Hannah exhibit over the years. “The Q.E.D. that you know and love is going to stay here,” Kambri said alongside Hannah in a video. She continued,

It was a passing of the torch, not just in ownership but in spirit. Kambri’s support for Hannah was a testament to her commitment to the community she had nurtured at Q.E.D. She believed that Hannah would continue the mission of fostering creativity, laughter, and community engagement.

Community Spirit: Why Q.E.D. Matters

Q.E.D. wasn’t just a venue—it became a symbol of Astoria’s creative heartbeat. A place where laughter echoed through the walls, where artists found a stage, and locals found a community. From comedy shows to workshops, live music, and open-mic nights, Q.E.D. became a sanctuary where stories were shared, talent was nurtured, and connections were made.

The news of the venue’s potential closure stirred an outpouring of love and support from loyal patrons who had built their own memories there. They rallied behind Kambri, sharing stories, attending shows, and expressing their deep gratitude for a place that felt like home. Kambri’s departure became a rallying cry to save a beloved institution that was more than just an entertainment spot—it was a community anchor.

A Call to Support Hannah Lieberman

As the transition becomes official on March 1, 2025, Kambri’s call for support continues. She urges Astoria locals and patrons to rally behind Hannah as she takes her first steps as a business owner in New York City.

Hannah represents the future of Q.E.D.—a blend of experience, energy, and commitment to community and creativity. She’s now tasked with ensuring that Q.E.D. remains a beacon of support, creativity, and laughter. And with Kambri’s trust and the community’s support, there’s every reason to believe that Q.E.D. ‘s story will continue to be one of resilience, creativity, and community spirit.

The Future: Q.E.D. Lives On

Q.E.D.’s story is far from over. It’s a new beginning for a beloved community space that will continue to be a haven for comedians, musicians, artists, and anyone with a story to tell. It stands as a testament to the resilience of the Astoria community, a place where creativity thrives, and support isn’t just a word—it’s a lifeline.

As Hannah Lieberman steps into this role, she’s not just taking over a business; she’s stepping into a legacy of laughter, artistry, and camaraderie. With Kambri Crews passing the torch with love and trust, the spirit of Q.E.D. will continue to fuel the creative heartbeat of Astoria.
