When people think of Queens, they often think of Corona. This vibrant neighborhood boasts a rich diversity of languages, cultures, peoples, foods, and art. Its streets are lined with apartments and condos competing for space with single and two-family dwellings. Corona has a long history of Latin American immigration and is one of the best places in the city to find authentic cuisine from Cuba, Mexico, and beyond. The neighborhood also has Italian heritage, exemplified by the renowned Lemon Ice King of Corona. Flushing Meadows Corona Park is nearby, and it's the perfect place to walk off all the delicious food you've enjoyed. Corona Plaza used to be an underutilized lot and truck route, but thanks to the Queens Museum and Queens Economic Development Corporation, it's now a pedestrian plaza for community programming and inclusive living. The partners wanted to create a space for grassroots, art-led engagement that would bring residents together, resulting in the permanent plaza we have today. Finally, the Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center is home to one of the most extensive collections of African American art and literature in Queens. With approximately 30,000 volumes of materials written about or relating to black culture, it's a must-visit for anyone who loves literature and art.
